TACOMA, Wash. – No. 5 Puget Sound's
Janece Levien scored twice to help the Loggers hold off the Lewis
& Clark women's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in
Tacoma, earning a 5-0 victory. The Pioneers fall to 3-7-5 on the
season and 2-7-2 in the Northwest Conference, while the Loggers
improve to 13-1 overall and 10-1 in NWC play.
Levien got the scoring started for the Loggers in the 24th minute
on a feed from teammate Theresa Henie. That would be the only goal
the Pioneers would allow in the first half of action, as the two
sides headed into the half with the Pios trailing 1-0.
Just a few minutes into the second half, the Loggers made it 2-0 on
a Mikaela Freeman goal. The Loggers took a 3-0 lead in the 55th
minute on another Levien goal, this time with Freeman on the
assist. The Loggers put two more in before the end of the game to
pick up a 5-0 win.
Freshman forward Katrina Weisbecker had the Pioneers lone shot of
the game. Freshman goalkeeper Elise Delgado picked up three saves
in the match.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 25 at noon when they
take on Pacific Lutheran in another NWC contest.
