PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark women's
soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to the Willamette Bearcats on
Sunday afternoon in a Northwest Conference match-up. The Bearcats
goal came in the second half of action to put them 8-6-1 on the
season and 7-4 in the NWC. The Pioneers slip to 3-6-5 overall and
2-6-2 in conference play.
The Pioneers scored a goal in the first half, but for the second
consecutive game had it called off. The Pioneers had a slight
advantage in shots, 8-7, while the Bearcats had a 3-1 edge in
corner kicks.
Just when it looked like another overtime period loomed for the
Pioneers, the Bearcats received an unassisted goal from Stephanie
Skelly. Skelly's goal came in the 88th minute of action for
the win.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at noon when
they head to Puget Sound.
