Women's Soccer Shuts Out Warner Pac

The Pioneer women's soccer team began their season with a 0-0 double overtime game against the Warner Pacific Knights Monday at Griswold Stadium. Freshman goalie Kate MacDougall earned the shutout in her first collegiate game.

The Pioneer defense held the Knights to zero shots in the first half, making it an easy first period for new goaltender Kate MacDougall (freshman, Danville, Calif.). The Pioneers had four shots on the offensive end in the first half. The game intensified in the second 45 minutes with Warner Pac unleashing seven shots and the Pioneers countering with six. Each team took just one shot in the overtime periods.

MacDougall had four saves for the Pioneers.

On the offesnive side, newcomer Malia Grosskreutz (freshman, Honomu, Hawaii) led the game with six shots, two of which were on goal.

The Pioneers play again on Wednesday night, September 3, when they host Cascade. The game begins at 7pm at Grisold Stadium.
