Soccer Falls 1-0 to #4 Puget Sound

The Pioneer soccer team closed out the weekend with a 1-0 (box score) loss to the #4 Puget Sound Loggers Sunday afternoon at Griswold Stadium.

The Loggers scored the lone goal of the game just over seven minutes into the contest. The Conference's leading scorer, Janece Levien scored her 14th goal of the season on a cross from Abby Gross. Pioneer goalkeeper Kate MacDougall (freshman, Daville, Calif.) came out to try to stop the shot, but missed, allowing the ball to roll into the goal to give the Loggers a 1-0 lead.

The Loggers had 19 shots on the afternoon with MacDougall logging 11 saves. The Pioneers had five shots with Logger goalkeeper Kallie Wolfer earning two saves.

With the victory, the Loggers improve to 10-1-0 pn the season and a perfect 8-0-0 in their first trip through the NWC opponents. The Pioneers end their first half of COnference play with a 2-5-1 mark (3-5-4 overall).

The Pioneers are on the road next weekend, taking on Pacific and George Fox Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
