Soccer Defeats Pacific 4-1

The Pioneer women's soccer team defeated the Pacific Boxers 4-1 Thursday night at Griswold Stadium. Lisa Housman scored a hat trick for the Pioneers.

The Boxers got the scoring started with Pacific's Ashley Kanda connecting on an empty-netter at the 29:59 mark of the game. The Boxers took a 1-0 lead into the half.

It didn't take the Pioneer offense long to get started in the second half. Lisa Housman (senior, Beverly Hills, Calif.) scored on a breakaway, booting a shot over the goalie's head into the upper corner of the net to tie the game 1-1 just over two minutes into the second half. Housman scored again twenty-five minutes later on a feed from Katie Browning (freshman, Idaho Falls, Idaho), setting up a shot into the upper right rear corner of the net. Katie Burnett (senior, Los Angeles, Calif.) gave the Pioneres a 3-0 lead when she booted a shot after a foul from the 30-yard line over the goalie's head into the net. Lisa Housman added her third goal of the night, an unassisted goal on a one-on-one breakaway with two minutes remaining in the game.

With the win, the Pioneers improve to 1-3-1 (1-2-1 NWC). Pacific falls to 2-4-1 (0-3-0 NWC).

The Pioneers play a single match Saturday at Linfield. Check back for post-game stats and recaps.
