Men's Swimming Posts Three Event Wins in Regular Season Finale

First year Reid McAllister won his heat of the 200 Free

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College men's swimming capped off their 2025-26 regular season with three event wins and a third-place team finish at their quad meet on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
 
Seniors Zach Martin and Ezra Billings each posted individual event wins and the 200 Free Relay Team closed out the meet with a win in their final event of the regular season. Lewis & Clark competed against Northwest Conference sides Pacific University and George Fox University and the second-ranked side in NAIA Southwestern Oregon Community College. 
 
Martin won the first event of the day for men's swimming. The senior finished first out of nine swimmers in the 200 Free. He touched the wall in 1:48.85 to win by 0.64 seconds. Sophomore Sam LoCurto took third overall (1:51.12) and first year Reid McAllister (1:55.24) placed fifth in the event. 
 
Billings added a win in the 50 Free. The senior posted a time of 21.41 to finish first out of nine swimmers by three seconds. First year Max Zuberbuhler took eighth in the race with a mark of 28.97. 
 
Lewis & Clark finished off the day with a first-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The River Otters "A" team of Billings, LoCurto, senior Michael Spicer and Martin finished first out of five teams. Their time of 1:29.32 was 1.62 seconds faster than the second-place team from Southwestern Oregon. The "B" Team of sophomore Isaiah Frei, first year Kofi Franklin, junior Colin Ziegler and Zuberbuhler took fifth with a time of 1:43.74. 
 
The River Otters tacked on four second-place finishes. 
 
Billings led Lewis & Clark in the 100 Free and 100 Backstroke. The senior placed second out of 12 swimmers in the 100 Free with a time of 49.31. McAllister (53.50) and Colin Ziegler (54.26) placed seventh and ninth in the 100 Free. Billings also placed second out of 10 entrants in the 100 Backstroke. Billings posted a time of 58.51 to take second. Zuberbuhler finished in ninth overall with a time of 1:11.05. 
 
Spicer added two second-place results of his own. The senior took second out of six in the 500 Free when he touched the wall in 4:59.82. He also led three swimmers in the 100 Fly. Spicer turned in a time of 53.47 to place second out of seven. LoCurto (54.76) and McAllister (58.40) finished in fourth and seventh places. 
 
LoCurto paced a pair of swimmers in the 50 Fly. The sophomore finished fourth overall with a time of 24.34. Martin was just behind him in sixth with a final time of 24.57. 
 
Martin led Lewis & Clark in the 200 IM. The senior registered a time of 2:05.84 to finish in fifth place. Frei placed sixth overall when he came across in 2:12.60. 
 
Ziegler led a trio of River Otters in the 100 Breaststroke. The junior captain notched a time of 1:08.46 to place seventh. Frei (1:10.27) and Franklin (1:13.27) finished in eighth and ninth overall. 
 
In the first race of the day, Lewis & Clark placed fourth in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of Frei, Franklin, McAllister and Ziegler combined for a time of 1:49.90. 
 
BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Lewis & Clark earned their first dual win of the year with their massive victory (177-19) over Pacific. The River Otters have now defeated Pacific in 11-straight dual meets. 
  • Spicer took fourth in the 1,000 Free with a mark of 10:38.54. 
  • Billings won the 50 Free for the sixth time in seven meets this season. 
  • Franklin placed seventh in the 50 Breaststroke with a time of 34.44. 
  • Martin won the 200 Free in each of the final three dual meets of the season. The senior wrapped up the regular season with five event victories. 
  • Zuberbuhler notched a time of 32.97 to finish ninth in the 50 Backstroke.  
WHO'S NEXT 
 
Lewis & Clark will travel to Boise for the 2026 Northwest Conference Championship Meet. This year's meet will take place from February 13-15.
