PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's swimming won six of 10 events, as part of a strong Senior Day showing on Saturday morning at Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.

Barton (2x) and junior
Angie Cummings each won two individual events apiece. Gaffoor added her second event win of the season and Lewis & Clark added a win in the 200 Medley Relay.
The River Otters opened the meet with a win in the first event of the day. The Lewis & Clark quartet of Cummings, Schroeder, Gaffoor and Barton combined for a time of 1:56.15 to win the 200 Medley Relay. They defeated three Willamette teams, including finishing 1.92 seconds ahead of the top Willamette squad.
Barton captured the team's first individual event victory. Barton finished first out of seven in the 200 Free. She touched the wall in 2:02.92 to win by 4.61 seconds. First year
Zoe Thorpe came across in third place with a mark of 2:11.13. Schroeder (2:17.65) and first year
Emily McAnally (2:20.83) finished in fifth and seventh overall.
Cummings posted her first of two event wins in the 400 IM. She came across in 4:56.64 to finish 11.79 seconds ahead of two Bearcats.
Gaffoor tacked on a win in the 100 Fly. Gaffoor registered a time of 1:03.24 to defeat a field of seven swimmers by 2.56 seconds. Thorpe (1:09.03) and sophomore
Claire Hurty (1:11.64) came across in third and fourth place.
Barton notched her second individual win of the day in the 100 Free. The senior finished first out of six swimmers with a time of 55.40. She won the race by 6.83 seconds. Milner (1:04.87) and Wind (1:22.89) finished fourth and sixth overall.
Cummings registered her second win of the day and the team's final victory in the 500 Free. The junior defeated seven other swimmers with a time of 5:35.64. She finished 10.95 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Hurty took third overall in the race with a mark of 5:58.04. Schroeder came across in 6:24.84 to place sixth.
Gimon led three Lewis & Clark swimmers in the 50 Free. The senior placed second out of seven swimmers with a time of 27.47. Milner (28.93) and sophomore
Xandra Kuenz (30.55) placed sixth and seventh overall.
Gimon added a fourth-place showing in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:21.08.
Gaffoor and Kuenz represented Lewis & Clark in the 100 Backstroke. The duo finished fifth and sixth overall with Gaffoor (1:13.66) edging out Kuenz (1:18.38).
In the final race of the day, Lewis & Clark placed second out of four teams in the 200 Free Relay. The quartet of Thorpe, McAnally, Hurty and Gimon combined for a mark of 1:53.14.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The six Lewis & Clark women's seniors all were swimming in their second-to-last home meet at the Zehntbauer Swimming Pavilion.
- Cummings has now won two individual events in three dual meets – including both meets this past weekend.
- Gaffoor earned her second win of the season on Saturday and first since November 8 when she won the 50 Fly at Pacific Lutheran University.
WHO'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark will close out the regular season on Saturday when they host a quad meet at 1 p.m. The River Otters will take on Northwest Conference schools Pacific University and George Fox University and perennial junior college power Southwestern Oregon Community College.
