PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College women's track & field junior
Madeleine Boyle (5,000M) and the 4x400M Relay team each posted victories, to lead women's track & field on Saturday as the team hosted the L&C Electric Forest Open.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Women's track & field posted 19 top-10 finishes and seven marks that ranked in the top-50 in program history - in their first home meet of the 2024-25 season.
Boyle earned the first win of the day for women's track & field in the 5K. She barely edged senior teammate
Riley Buese as the duo placed first and second overall. Boyle (18:27.44) topped the eight-woman field with a time of 18:27.44. Buese (18:27.44) ended the race just .04 seconds behind Boyle. First year
Talia Tomhave notched a time of 20:32.43 to finish 8
th.
Lewis & Clark added their second win of the day in the final event of the meet. The Pioneers quartet of
Elsie Chin and
Miriam Reside,
Callow Soto and
Malia Heien finished first out of five teams in the 4x400M Relay. Lewis & Clark posted a time of 4:04.26 to finish 1.21 seconds ahead of NCAA DI Portland State University. The Pioneers' second relay team of
Carolyn Mayberry,
Maeva Conroy,
Melissa Zurla and
Mackenzie Olver took fourth place (4:37.61).
The Pioneers posted three third-place finishes and 12 total top-10 marks in the field events.
Junior
Nia Pile finished first among NCAA athletes and third out of 11 competitors in the shot put. Pile registered a season-best mark of 10.72M (35-02 Feet) to finish first among five Pioneers in the event. Sophomore
Divinity Singleton took fourth overall with a season-best throw of 10.70M (35-01.25 Feet). Junior
Piper McCoy Harmon launched the apparatus 9.94M (35-07.50 Feet) to finish in fifth-place. Junior
Reilyn Sabado recorded a PR throw of 9.24M (30-03.75 Feet) to take sixth. Her throw moved her into 37
th place in program history. Junior
Michèe Brika took ninth place with a season-best launch of 8.87M (29-01.25 Feet).
Sophomore
Rose Dinh led a trio of Lewis & Clark jumpers in the long jump. Dinh finished third out of 11 with a leap of 5.03M (16-06.00 Feet). Pile recorded a career-best jump of 4.75M (15-07.00 Feet) to take seventh. Her jump moved her into 34
th-place in program history. Junior
Anli Davis notched a season-best leap of 4.52M (14-10.00 Feet) to finish in eight place.
Davis placed third out of seven jumpers in the triple jump. The junior registered a career-best mark of 10.00M (32-09.75 Feet) to finish third out of seven leapers. Her mark moved her up to 24
th place all-time in program history.
Singleton paced four Lewis & Clark throwers in the discus. She finished fourth out of 13 competitors with a PR throw of 35.43M (116-03 Feet). Singleton moved up to 13
th all-time in the event with her best throw. McCoy Harmon finished in fifth place with a heave of 35.06M (115-00 Feet). Sabado recorded a PR throw of 32.01M (105-00 Feet) to finish in seventh place. Her PR moved her into 21
st in program history in the discus. Brika took 13
th overall with a throw of 20.95M (68-08 Feet).
Chin notched the team's sixth top-three finish of the day. The junior finished third out of nine runners in the 400M Hurdles. She crossed the line in a PR time of 1:06.89. Mayberry ended the race in ninth place with a mark of 1:14.50.
Mayberry was Lewis & Clark's lone entrant in the 100M Hurdles. The sophomore ended the race in 10
th place when she finished in a season-best time of 19.00.
Soto notched a sixth-place finish in the 400M. The sophomore posted a career-best time of 1:01.72 to finish sixth out of 13 runners.
Reside led five Lewis & Clark runners in the 800M. She notched a PR mark of 2:23.79 to finish in 26
th place. Sophomore
Nadia Cota finished in 15
th place with a time of 2:30.45. Olver registered a PR time of 2:32.97 to finish in 18
th place. Conroy (2:35.62) and Zurla (2:41.76) placed 20
th and 21
st overall.
Senior
Tessa Robinson led Lewis & Clark in the 100M and 200M. Robinson took 14
th in the 100M with a season-best time of 13.57. Pile ended the event 20
th overall with a time of 14.24. Robinson posted a mark of 28.71 in the 200M to finish in 17
th place. Junior
AJ Schroeder crossed the line in 31.30 to place 21
st overall.
Senior
Maggie Martin made her season debut and first appearance in nearly two years in the 1,500M. Martin finished 24
th out of 34 runners in the event with a time of 5:32.48. Junior
Ali Kerschner took 30
th overall with a time of 5:55.46.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The Pioneers' winning time in the 4x400M Relay (4:04.26) was the sixth-fastest mark in program history. Chin, Soto and Heien combined with assistant coach Macy O'Hara to set the program record last year at the Northwest Conference Championship Meet (3:58.07).
- Chin added a top-five time in program history in the 400M Hurdles. Her mark of 1:06.89 is fifth all-time in the event.
- Soto's time of 1:01.72 in the 400M moved her into 17th place in program history.
- Reside moved up to 26th all-time in the 800M with a time of 2:23.79.
- Lewis & Clark recorded three top-15 marks in NCAA DIII Outdoor this spring. Chin's time in the 400M Hurdles is currently the sixth-fastest. The 4x400M team's time is seventh overall and Singleton ranks 12th in the discus.

Outdoor track & field will travel to Lane Community College on Saturday for the Lane Open. Senior
Riley Buese is set to travel to Rochester, New York to compete in the NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field National Championship Meet on Friday and Saturday.
