PORTLAND, Ore.āLewis & Clark women's lacrosse is set to play 17 contests, including 12 regular-season games, as part of their first-ever season this spring. Women's lacrosse will take trips to Minnesota, Washington and California and play four home games during the first-ever season of varsity lacrosse at Lewis & Clark.Ā Ā

The Pioneers will play a non-conference schedule in 2024, before joining the Northwest Conference as a full conference member for the 2025 season. Women's lacrosse will play all seven current NWC conference members this spring.Ā

Lewis & Clark will begin their spring competition with a pair of scrimmages in February. The Pioneers will travel to take on the Portland State University Club Team on Saturday, February 3, before traveling to defending NWC Champions George Fox University on Saturday, February 17. Both games will be played at 1 p.m.Ā

The Pioneers will travel to Minnesota in late February for the first varsity games in program history. On Friday, February 23, Lewis & Clark will take on Hamline University in Minneapolis at 10 p.m. local time (8 p.m. Pacific). The Pioneers will be right back at it the next day, when they take on Augsburg University at 1 p.m. (11 a.m. Pacific). Both games will be played at the Augsburg Dome. Hamline and Augsburg are members of the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference (MWLC) and finished fifth and sixth out of eight teams last season.Ā

Lewis & Clark will return to the Pacific Northwest to play their first of three-straight games against NWC opponents. On February 27, Lewis & Clark will play their first exhibition game of the year, when they travel to take on Willamette University at 6 p.m.Ā

That weekend, the Pioneers will travel to Washington for a pair of games against future conference foes. On Saturday March 2, Lewis & Clark will take on Whitworth University. The following day the Pioneers will visit Whitman College. Head coach

Women's lacrosse will host their first home game and kick off a three-game homestand on Friday, March 8. The Pioneers will welcome in the University of Mount Union at 6:30 p.m. The Purple Raiders will be traveling nearly 2,500 miles from Alliance, Ohio for the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Mount Union went 14-5 last season and made it to the Second Round of the NCAA DIII Tournament.Ā

On Sunday, March 10, Lewis & Clark will play their fourth matchup against a Midwest team when they play Illinois Wesleyan University at 1 p.m. The Titans are coming off back-to-back losing seasons but in 2021 played NWC Championship George Fox University in the NCAA Tournament. Illinois Wesleyan earned a 13-12 win over the Bruins in the 2021 First Round.Ā

The Pioneers will close out their homestand on Sunday, March 17 when they take on Pacific University at 1 p.m.Ā

Over Spring Break, Lewis & Clark will travel to California to take on a trio of Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) teams. The Pioneers will take on the University of Redlands (Sunday, March 24), California Lutheran University (Monday, March 25) and Chapman University (Wednesday, March 27).Ā

When they return to the Pacific Northwest, Lewis & Clark will play their final four games of the season. The Pioneers will play their final home game of the year on Wednesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. when they take on Linfield University. Newman spent four years coaching at Linfield (2019-22) before being hired as the first head coach of the Lewis & Clark varsity program in June of 2022.Ā

The Pioneers will travel to take on the University of Puget Sound on Wednesday, April 17 at 5 p.m. in their final countable contest of the 2024 season.Ā

Lewis & Clark will take on two NAIA teams in exhibition games in April. On Saturday, April 13, the Pioneers will play host Eastern Oregon University. Women's lacrosse will wrap up their season the following Saturday with a trek to Corban University (April 20).Ā

The Pioneers will feature 13 players during their first-ever varsity season. The roster is made up of two attackers, five midfielders, four defenders and two goalies. Ten of the Pioneers 13 players are true freshmen and three student-athletes are also members of the women's soccer team.Ā
