Women's Lacrosse and Meinhard Earn Program's First IWLCA Honors

Women's lacrosse and junior Kate Meinhard each garnered Academic Awards on Wednesday

PORTLAND, Ore.—For the first time in program history, Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse and junior Kate Meinhard were recognized as academic honorees by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), the IWLCA announced on Wednesday. 
 
The team earned IWLCA Academic Honor Squad plaudits for the 2024-25 season. Meinhard was named to the IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll. It marks the first time in the two-year history of Lewis & Clark College women's lacrosse that the program or a student-athlete has been recognized by the IWLCA. 
 
Head coach Lindsay Newman's group earned Academic Honor Squad honors after posting a team GPA of 3.26 this year. To qualify for the award, teams must post a GPA of 3.20 or higher for the academic year. 
 
Meinhard is the first individual in program history to be named to the to IWLCA Division III Academic III Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. 
 
The Cleveland, Ohio native is a Physics major, with minors in Math and Studio Art. She started and played in 15 of the team's 17 games this fall and finished second in assists (20) and fourth in goals (33) and total points (53). Meinhard tacked on 80 draw controls, 42 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. She scored multiple goals in nine contests and recorded a season-high seven points (four goals, three assists) in a road win over Elmhurst University on March 23.
