NEWBERG, Ore. – Three Lewis & Clark College track and field athletes traveled to the George Fox Final Qualifiers, and all three runners finished in the top three in four races.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Macy O'Hara ran in the women's 200m and 400m to lead the Pioneers on Thursday. The junior earned a new PR in her first race of the day. O'Hara finished second with a time of 57.69. A little over an hour later, she won the 200m by over a second in 26.06, crossing the finish line 1.28 seconds before George Fox University's Elizabeth Warren
Freshman
Noah Nelson placed second in the men's 400m with a time of 50.51. Nelson beat George Fox's Tayler Phillips by 0.06 seconds in a battle for second place.
Max Aldrich ran the first race of the day for Lewis & Clark. The sophomore finished the 1500m in 4:03.89 and placed third.
BY THE NUMBERS
- O'Hara improved her PR in the 400m by 0.22 seconds, which is still the fourth fastest time (57.69) in program history.
- Nelson ran the 400m for only the third time this spring and was 1.02 seconds off his PR in the event that he set at the L&C Spring Break open.
- Aldrich ran the 1500m for the first time in over a month; he normally runs the 5K and 10K. Two weeks ago, he set a new program record in the 5K (14:15.18) at the Oregon State High Performance Meet.
WHO'S NEXT
Lewis & Clark expects to return all nine of this season's All-Northwest Conference athletes, four women and five men, next spring.
