George Fox Defeats Women's Basketball In Road Tilt

Sophomore Piper Curry scored eight points in the loss

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Bruins used a 21-8 second-quarter to take control of the game and nearly doubled up the Pioneers on the glass (47-23) to keep their Northwest Conference Tournament playoff hopes alive.Ā

Junior Karli Mukai finished tied for the game-high with 11 points. She tacked on two steals, a rebound and an assist.

Junior Charlotte Carroll recorded nine points on 4-5 shooting, to go along with six rebounds.Ā Sophomore Piper Curry scored all eight of her points in the first quarter and junior Natalie Elstone added five points, four rebounds and a team-high three assists. Senior Gabby Beltran finished with a line of four points, four rebounds and a game-high six steals.Ā

Erin Yoshitaka and Kylie RitterĀ led the Bruins with 10 points apiece. Jenna Lacey added six points and pulled down 17 of the team's 50 rebounds.Ā

Curry scored all eight points for the Pioneers in the first stanza. She knocked down a lay-in three minutes into the quarter to tie the game and 2-2 and then hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut the deficit to 14-8 at the end of one.

George Fox used an 17-1 run early in the second to stretch their lead to 33-11. Ā Mukai drained a late 3-pointer to end the streak, but the damage was done as the Bruins extended their advantage to 35-16 at the break.Ā

Lewis & Clark would improve offensively in the second half but couldn't slow down a Bruins team that shot 50 percent (8-16) in the third quarter.Ā
