Box Score 2 TACOMA, Wash. -- A three-run fourth inning insured an early lead as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers won the final game of a doubleheader for the second straight day against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Sunday at the PLU Softball Field.
Samantha Gildersleeve's first-inning, two-run home run put the Pios up by two before Lily Moffitt and Kalea Kaui brought in runs during the fourth for a 5-2 win in game two.
In the opener, Gildersleeve hit a homer in the second, but PLU took a two-run lead in the sixth. Moffitt's RBI single in the final inning wasn't enough as the Pios fell 3-2.

Jane Wilson threw 5 1/3 innings and struck out one en route to two runs, eight hits allowed victory. Alyssa Abe picked up her second save of the season with two strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings.
Lewis & Clark capitalized minimal offensive chances as the Pios were limited to two hits and two walks. Both hits were for extra bases: a double by Moffitt and Gildersleeve's home run. Mari Alvarez and Kami Merrill were each walked, and Gildersleeeve and Alvarez were hit by a pitch. Of those six to reach base, only one was stranded. Neither team committed an error.

Sydney Cross singled and Moffitt hit a two-out base hit to score one, but the Pios chances at a comeback during the opener ended on Abe's groundout.
PLU scored all of its runs on leadoff home runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Abe threw six innings, struck out five and gave up three runs on five hits for her seventh complete game of the year.
