Game 1 | Key Moments

The Pioneers posted four extra-base hits including a solo home run by Samantha Gildersleeve that opened the scoring. Jenson doubled in two runs, Moffitt had a two-RBI single and Olivia Brackin put down a sacrifice bunt to score another in a six-run second inning.

In the third, Alvarez and Jenson had RBI singles, while Henderson scored two on a fifth-inning single. Alvarez had her first career double later in the fifth to score another before Jenson added her third run-producing hit. The Pios put up seven runs in the fifth inning.

"I'm so proud of how the team came out and played with such intensity," starting catcher Lindsey Felgel said. "Before the games, we talked about playing for each other rather than just yourself, and I really think we accomplished that today."

"Today was a glimpse of just how strong our entire team is," head coach Shawna Cyrus said. "People were coming off the bench ready to hit, steal bases and pitch. It was really exciting to see our full depth as we get ready to start the NWC schedule next week."

Off her NWC Softball Pitching Student-Athlete of the Week recognition following their last games, Abe pitched two innings allowed two hits with no runs. Crusberg won her first collegiate game with two hits and no earned runs allowed to go with a strikeout. In her first collegiate pitching appearance, Kylie Hill finished the game with a strikeout while giving up two hits and a run.

Moffitt's fourth-inning, two-RBI double was sandwiched by Bearcats miscues to extend the Pios lead to 7-2. Abe added a two-RBI single in the sixth.

Wilson pitched four innings, allowed five hits and three runs with a walk and a strikeout to earn the win. Abe notched a save with three innings of relief and allowed four hits, two runs and a strikeout.
