Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Ore. -- Behind 19 hits, their most in at least the last four seasons, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers won 12-9 in the series finale with the Whitworth Pirates on Sunday at the Huston Sports Complex. Lewis & Clark won the series 3-1.
A big third inning saw the Pios go on a five-run rally to put themselves ahead 7-3, but two back-to-back three-run innings for the Pirates in the fifth and sixth tied the game. Alyssa Abe's sixth-inning home run combined with Frankie Warden's double gave the Pios a three-run lead headed into the seventh. The Pios were able to limit the Pirates to a 1-2-3 inning to clinch the win.
Abe pitched the final 1 1/3 innings and earned the win while Warden had a team-high four RBI's. Five players doubled while the team saw a season-high 12 RBI's.

Key Moments
The Pios had a big inning in the third where they went on a five-run rally to put themselves up by four over the Pirates. Kumaska and Kai Pinera both singled and were on first and second when Olivia Brackin smacked a double down the left field line. Kumasaka scored while Pinera advanced to third. Warden stepped up to the plate and knocked a homer out over the left field fence prompting a pitching change for the Pirates.
Lily Moffitt doubled to left field and was followed on base by a single from Jane Wilson. Kalea Kaui's fly ball down the left field line scored Moffitt, but Wilson and Kaui were left on base when Hannah Urbach and Braylin Jensen both flied out to end the inning.
After the Pirates tied the game in the top of the sixth with a three-run rally, the Pioneers responded with big bats of their own to take back the lead. A double from Warden and a homer from Abe brought in three runs, and a 1-2-3 takedown of the Pirates in the top of the seventh clinched the win.

The Lewis & Clark Pioneers gave up two home runs to Heather Menzer in an 8-0 loss to the visiting Whitworth Pirates in game one of Sunday's doubleheader.
Alyssa Abe earned the loss. She allowed four runs and four hits against 13 batters. Megan Anderson and Savannah Dickson also saw time on the mound, allowing four hits and six runs between them.

Lisa Kumasaka had a pair of hits for the Pios in a game where the team struggled to create offensive momentum. Kalea Kaui slugged a double while Frankie Warden and Braylin Jensen both drew walks.
