MILWAUKIE, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers scored five runs in the seventh inning to win 6-5 over the Whitworth Pirates in the second game on Saturday, a first-day sweep at Milwaukie Athletic Fields.

Braylin Jenson's double kickstarted the five-run inning for the Pioneers.

Jane Wilson pitched four innings and allowed three runs, while Savannah Dickson and Megan Anderson helped the Pioneers finish the game victorious.

Key Moments

After the Pirates went ahead on a second-inning, three-run home run by Brynn Radke in the second and added another homer in the sixth by Delayna Waite, the Pioneers trailed by four into the seventh. With rain falling throughout the game, a leadoff walk by Kalea Kaui, Kami Merrill's single and a wild pitch by Rose Meshell gave the Pios runners at second and third with no outs. Jenson smacked a double toward the right-field corner to score both, but was thrown out at third trying to stretch the hit into a triple.

With the bases empty, Lisa Kumasaka singled and stole second. She scored to bring the Pios within one when Kai Pinera reached on the lone Whitworth error of the game. Olivia Brackin got on when Pirates' third baseman Ashley Bartels didn't throw to neither third nor first, and with runners at the corners, Frankie Warden tied the game with a single. With Melanie Laronde in the circle to finish the game for the Pirates, Wilson drew a walk to load the bases, and Kaui was walked to win the game.

"I just knew I needed to get up there and get it done for the team," Jenson said of her double. "Runners on base and we really fought that last inning. We got it done."

Game 1

Wilson and Megan Richardson brought in runs as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers won 3-2 over the Whitworth Pirates on Saturday in the opener.

Trailing 2-0 in the sixth, Wilson hit a single, and with an error, the Pios brought in their first two runs of the game. Richardson hit an RBI single.

Alyssa Abe started the game and gave up two runs with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Anderson picked up her first win of the season with 3 2/3 innings of relief.

Key Moments

The Pirates took the lead on a fourth-inning, two-run home run by Maddy Thomas. Into the sixth and after the Pioneers had left five on base through the first five innings, Lewis & Clark (2-6, 2-4 NWC) hit four straight singles including Wilson's two-RBI effort. Pinch hitting for Hannah Urbach, Richardson hit a blooper to right field that scored Lily Moffitt, who singled earlier in the inning, for the go-ahead run.

"Honestly, hitting wise, just going up to the plate, see ball and hit ball," Wilson said. "I don't even remember what happened. I don't know where the ball was. I just went on my bat, and I was like, there you go."

Moffitt was 2 for 2 in the game including a double.

Anderson retired 11 of the final 13 batters of the game for Whitworth.
