Key Moments

Although Lewis & Clark didn't get its first points until three minutes into the game, George Fox didn't get out to a big lead early. The Bruins recognized five seniors before the game, all of whom started. Haley Strowbridge opened up with seven points in the first five minutes, as the Bruins built a 9-7 lead.

The turning point came in the second quarter when George Fox outscored the Pios 19-7. Lewis & Clark made just 2 of 15 shots in the period (13 percent) to fall behind 37-19 at halftime. Cerne scored all seven of her points before the break on 3 of 10 shooting. Hannah Martin had five rebounds in the first, and Logan Kelly and Coco Shafer scored three points apiece in the first two quarters. They finished with six each.

The Bruins continuously grew their lead in the second half. Julia Barsocchini added seven points off the bench.

Deeper Look

  • Pending the outcome of Saturday's home finale with Pacific Lutheran, George Fox (18-6, 10-5 NWC) and Northwest Conference-leading Whitman are the only teams that Lewis & Clark didn't play at least one game to within single digits during the NWC schedule this season
  • After three sub-32 percent quarters, the Pioneers shot 62 percent in the fourth quarter, better than George Fox's 50 percent
  • Lewis & Clark outrebounded the Bruins 12-9 on the offensive glass and won the second-chance points battle (13-8)
  • Martin finished with seven boards, Johnson added six and Laurel Marchant had five
  • Ishara Sorensen finished with two assists, as did Peyton Romo and Shafer
  • George Fox made 14 3-pointers in the game, which matched the most by a Lewis & Clark opponent this season

Looking Ahead

Lewis & Clark (3-20, 2-13 NWC) celebrates lone senior Blythe Ballesteros on Saturday in Portland with a 4 p.m. game against PLU. Ballesteros entered her first collegiate game against George Fox.
