Softball Takes On NWC Leaders Whitworth

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark softball team hit the road this weekend to take on the Northwest Conference's top team – Whitworth. The Pirates won the opening game 7-0, before taking the final game 5-1.

 

GAME ONE
The Pioneers struggled to get their offense going in the opening game, managing just four hits. Lindsay Yearman, Hannah Dal Pra, Amanda Rabith and Tiana Rosario each ended the game 1-for-3 from the plate.

Whitworth knocked in five runs by the start of the third inning, before scoring their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

 

GAME TWO
Game two also saw the Pirates take a 5-0 lead early. The Pioneers earned their only run of the contest in the fourth with a solo homerun by Madison Hollenbeck

Hollenbeck and Yearman each ended the game 2-for-3 from the plate.

 

UP NEXT
The Pioneers return to action against the Pirate to close out the series on Sunday, April 19.
