Softball Swept by Pacific Lutheran

TACOMA, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark softball team went back to action against Pacific Lutheran on Sunday afternoon, dropping the first game of the double-header 6-4. The Lutes completed the series sweep with a 6-2 win in the final game.

GAME ONE
Lewis & Clark struck first, starting with an RBI by Haley Robinson in the third inning. The hit allowed Maddie Lee, who led off the inning with a double to center, come in from third. The Lutes helped the Pioneers score their next run with a throwing error on Madison Hollenbeck's at bat. The error gave Robinson enough time to make her way home.

It didn't take long for Pacific Lutheran to counter, with the Lutes plating four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Lewis & Clark earned one of those runs back in the top half of the next inning, making it a 4-3 contest. The Pioneer run came in on an Ashley Bolick single that scored freshman Ateisha Norton. Norton got the inning started for the Pios with a double to left center.

A two-run double to center in the fifth ended the scoring for the Lutes who jumped out to a 6-3 advantage. The Pioneers did their best to respond in the sixth, but were able to score despite loading up the bases. Lewis & Clark did earn a final run in the seventh, with Norton picking up her second double of the contest, scoring Stephanie Garcia.

Noton ended the contest 3-of-4 from the plate, while Bolick was 2-for-2.

GAME TWO
The Pioneers did themselves little favors in the series finale, allowing the Lutes five runs in the second inning after committing three errors. Pacific Lutheran added a final run in the third inning thanks to another Pio fielding error.

Lewis & Clark did manage to escape the sweep with a single run in the sixth and seventh innings. Norton picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to right field in the sixth, which sent Hollenbeck across the plate. Freshman Paige Salavea knocked in the Pioneers final run with a single in the seventh that scored Kelsey Buck

Dal Pra ended the game 3-of-4 from the plate, while Salavea and Bolick were both 1-of-1.
