Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball team dropped two games to the George Fox Bruins on Friday afternoon at the Huston Sports Complex. The Bruins won the opening game 13-2 in five innings and the second 11-3 after five.
The Pioneers fall to 6-8 on the season and 4-6 in Northwest Conference action. The Bruins improve to 13-3 overall and 9-1 in the NWC.
GAME ONE
George Fox knocked in five runs in the opening inning, before platting eight more in the top of the second to take an early 13-0 lead.
The Pioneers responded in the bottom half of the second with their only two runs of the contest. The two runs came across with a two-run homerun over the center field fence by freshman Ateisha Norton. Norton picked up Hannah Dal Pra along the way, who led off the inning with a trip to first base on a Bruin error.
Norton ended the game 1-of-2 from the plate, as did Kylee Kennel and Maddie Lee.
GAME TWO
Like the first game, the Bruins quickly jumped to a paralyzing advantage, taking a 10-0 lead after two innings. The Pioneers earned a single run in the bottom of the second with a solo homerun to left field by Dal Pra.
The Bruins responded with their final run of the game in the third for an 11-1 lead. The Pioneers put together a solid fourth inning with Norton coming in to score on a Haley Robinson at bat. The Pioneers center fielder reached on a fielder's choice which moved Lindsay Yearman to third and Norton home, while Paige Salavea was thrown out at second.
Lewis & Clark plated their final run in the fifth on a Madison Hollenbeck single to center. The hit brought in Stephanie Garcia, who came in to run for Amanda Rabith, from second. Rabith led off the inning with a double to left field.
Rabith ended the contest 2-for-3 from the plate, while Robinson and Hollenceck were 1-for-2.

The two teams go back to work on Saturday, March 14 at 12 p.m. for the final two games of the NWC series.
