Box Score FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team took to the road on Saturday for a Northwest Conference match against the Pacific Boxers. The Boxers won the contest 3-0 (25-15, 25-17, 25-21).
The loss drops the Pioneers to 0-2 in conference play and 6-5 on the season. The Boxers improve to 1-1 in the NWC and 5-5 overall.
Kataleya Milan led the Pioneers with nine kills, while Ali Carleton finished the evening with eight. Vanessa Hall had a team-high 15 assists and Alexe Navarro ended the night with 10 digs. Isabel Valentine and Tessa Belanger each ended the match with two blocks each.
Haley Bedell led all players with 15 kills for Pacific, while teammate Kelly Wahl had a match-high four blocks.
The Pioneers fell behind early in the first set and were never able to earn the lead. Down 7-12 the Pioneers received three kills by Milan, one of which was an ace, and some unforced errors by the Boxers that allowed them to pull within one. Pacific quickly responded to pull out the 25-15 win.
The second set started off much differently with the Pioneers earning an early 7-4 lead. The Boxers took control of the match moments later and never looked back, taking their second set.
Despite playing the Boxers tight, the Pioneer never held a lead in the third set.
The Pioneers return to the court on Friday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Pamplin Sports Center against Linfield.
