Volleyball Celebrates Seniors In Home Finale

The Pioneers honored Piper McCoy-Harmon, Reilyn Sabado and Abigail Warrick prior to the match

PORTLAND, Ore.—Lewis & Clark College volleyball honored their three seniors prior to the team's final home match of the 2025 season. Willamette University rallied past Lewis & Clark in the first set, to earn a 3-0 win in both team's penultimate match of the season. 
 
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED
 
Lewis & Clark honored seniors Reilyn Sabado, Abigail Warrick and Piper McCoy-Harmon prior to the match. Sabado and McCoy-Harmon were two of the three members from Lewis & Clark's first class under head coach Erin Labasan and Warrick joined the program last Fall. 
 
Juniors HB Schuett and Kaitlyn Jensen each finished with a team-high 6 kills apiece. Schuett led the team with three block assists and tied for the team lead with three aces. Jensen tacked on seven digs and two block assists. 
 
Junior Isabel Meleán-Williams finished third on the team with five kills and tied Schuett with three aces. Junior Christi San Diego chipped in three kills, two block assists and two digs. 
 
Junior setter Christi San Diego racked up a team-high 17 assists and nine digs. Sophomore Daphne Ibrao finished second third on the team with five digs. 
 
Playing in front of a rowdy home crowd, Lewis & Clark came out strong to start the match.
 
They used a 4-0 run that included two Schuett aces to grab a 9-6 lead. The two teams would trade the lead back-and-forth before Lewis & Clark grabbed a 23-22 lead late in the set. San Diego posted a pair of kills and Meleán-Williams added a service ace to turn a 22-21 deficit into a one-point lead. The Bearcats closed out the set with a 3-0 run to take the set 25-23. 
 
The second set would start off with the teams splitting the first eight points (4-4). Willamette used a 4-0 run to grab the lead and then used three more runs of three points or more to stretch their advantage to 22-13. Lewis & Clark would win four of the next five points but Willamette's Lexie Scott closed out the set with a 25-17 set win. 
 
Willamette carried their momentum into the final set. They stormed out to an 8-1 lead and never let Lewis & Clark fully back into the set. Facing a 20-7 deficit, Lewis & Clark went on a 6-1 run to close the gap to 21-13. Schuett posted three of their six kills during the run. The Bearcats would close out the set with four of the final five points to win the set 25-14. 
 
BY THE NUMBERS 
  • Kuerschner enters Saturday's season-finale with 1,321 career assists. She is just two assists shy of passing Kristin Head ('04) for sixth-place in program history for career assists. Kuerschner is also just four digs shy of 500 for her career. 
  • Schuett went over 125 kills and 50 block assists for their career. The junior has now recorded 126 kills and 51 block assists in 129 sets. They have recorded a career-high 90 kills and 33 block assists this year. 
  • Jensen has posted at least five kills in 15 conference matches this season. Her 180 kills are tied for ninth in the Northwest Conference.

Lewis & Clark will close out the 2025 season when they travel to take on Linfield University for a 6 p.m. match.
