NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team completed its Northwest Conference sweep of George Fox with a 3-0 (28-26, 25-13, 27-25) win over the Bruins on Wednesday night.

The win moves the Pioneers to 11-11 overall and 5-8 in the NWC. The Bruins slip to 4-9 on the season and 3-10 in conference play. The two sides met earlier in the season at the Pamplin Sports Center with the Pioneers walking away with a 3-1 win.

The Pioneers were led by 11 kills from Isabel Valentine and Tessa Belanger, while Kataleya Milan finished with 10. Valentine led the team with four blocks, while Belanager finished with three total blocks.

Vanessa Hall led the team with 18 assists and Emily Drake picked up 16 during the course of the match. Milan led the team with 19 digs and Alexe Navarro contributed 17, while Sydney Roth pulled up 10.

Kylee Adderson led the Bruins with 10 kills, while teammate Erin Spowls contributed nine. Payton Shrum led all players with 29 assists, whle Brynelle Bremner finished with 17 digs.

The opening set was a nail-biter with the two teams simply trading points most of the way. Lewis & Clark held a four point lead at one point which was the largest advantage by either squad. After falling behind at 26-25, the Pioneers pulled out the win courtesy of back-to-back-to-back attacking errors by the Bruins.

The Pioneers fell behind early in the second set, trailing 4-1 at the start. Despite the initial setback the Pioneers rebounded to dominate the remainder of the set. After tying the contest at 7-7 the Pioneers closed out the set on an 18-6 run.

The Bruins battled the Pioneers throughout the third set but were never able to hold the lead, as the Pioneers cruised to the win.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7 p.m. at Pacific Lutheran.
