TACOMA, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team opened its Northwest Conference match against Puget Sound on fire with a dominant 25-14 in the opening set. The Loggers fought their way back to take the match 3-1.

The loss drops the Pioneers to 10-11 on the season and 4-8 in conference play. The Loggers improve to 9-12 overall and 8-4 in conference.

Kataleya Milan led the Pioneers with a match-high 17 kills, while earning 14 digs. Isabel Valentine finished her night with 13 kills and four blocks, while Brigitte Russo had nine kills and Ali Carleton finished with eight kills and three blocks.

Emily Drake led the Pioneers with 23 assists and Alexe Navarro concluded the match with a match-high 39 digs.

Nicolette Reynaud led the Loggers with 12 kills, while Moira McVicar had a match-high 25 assists. Emily Convery ended the match with tied with Valentine for a match-high four blocks.

The Pioneers dominated every aspect of the opening set, starting things on a 10-3 run. Lewis & Clark easily moved on to the 25-14 win, finishing the set with a .250 attacking percentage, while the Loggers hit -.032.

The second set saw both sides trade points. Neither side led by more than two points until the Pioneers claimed a 22-19 advantage. The Loggers weren't out of the set however, going on a 5-2 run to even the score at 24 all. Lewis & Clark scored the next point, but that was the only time the Loggers trailed for the remainder of the set winning 29-27.

The two sides traded command of the lead in the third set, but ultimately the Loggers came out on top 25-19. The Loggers trailed only once in the fourth and final set en route to a 25-17 win.

The Pioneers return to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at George Fox for a 7 p.m. start.
