Softball Loses Battles to Pacific on Senior Day

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball team faced off against the Pacific Boxers for a double header on senior day, dropping both games to the Boxers, 7-4 and 6-1. This moves the Pioneers record to 15-21 overall and 9-17 in Northwest Conference (NWC) play. The Boxers improve to 18-16 overall and 13-11 in NWC play.

In the first game, the Pioneers got on the board first, scoring in the second inning when Jet'aime Mullins hit a triple to left field, capitalizing on confusion. She was brought in on a single by Madison Hollenbeck to right field.

The Boxers responded with three runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning. The Pioneers closed the gap with three runs in the sixth inning, with Hannah Dal Pra starting things off by homering to center field. Mullins then got on base from a single up the middle, and was brought in by a single by Hollenbeck. The final Lewis & Clark run came from Maddie Lee, pinch running for Jill Pinder. Lee came home on a single to center field by Amanda Rabith.

The Boxers sealed their win with a home right in the top of the seventh inning to left center field.

Natalie Rose pitched four innings for the Pioneers, collecting four strike outs before being relieved by Pinder. Pinder pitched one and a half innings, struck out two batters, and only allowed one hit. Hallie Knife came in to close for Lewis & Clark, also only allowing one hit and striking out one batter.

In the second game, Boxer pitcher Sara Aasness pitched a no hitter. The lone Pioneer run came from Mullins, who reached after being hit by a pitch. Mullins then stole two bases and was brought in by Hollenbeck's sacrifice fly to center field.

Hollenbeck pitched three and a half innings, striking out three batters. Pinder then came in to relieve, allowing only one hit and one run.

The Pioneers finish their season tomorrow on the road against Pacific at 12 p.m.
