PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team excited the Pamplin Sports Center crowd on Friday night in the teams 3-1 Northwest Conference victory over Pacific. The Pioneers collected a 25-21 win in the opening set before slipping to the Boxers 25-18 in the second. Lewis & Clark came out of the intermission on fire finishing out the match with a 25-21 third set and electric 25-17 fourth.
The win moves the Pioneers to 6-15 on the season and 5-10 in NWC action, while the Boxers fall to 7-15 (6-9 NWC).
Kataleya Milan led the way with 21 kills, while Kayla Ernewein had eight and Kelsie Dorpat and Ali Carleton each finished with six a piece. Dorpat picked up 41 assists in the win, while freshman Alexe Navarro came up with 30 digs. Ernewein ended the contest with a match-high five blocks, Tessa Belanger knocked down four and Dorpat and Milan each finished with three blocks.
Una Areta led all players with 27 kills, while teammate Mariah McHolland had 17.
The fourth set was by far the most exciting from the Pioneers with sophomore Daniela de Kervor helping the Pioneers go on an uncontested 9-0 run from the serve in the start of the set. de Kervor picked up two of her match-high four services aces during the series.
Lewis & Clark will honor its seniors (Dorpat, Ernewein and Alicia Callejo-Black) prior to its next contest on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. against Pacific Lutheran.
