PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior Quentin Sims could not miss from three point range on Wednesday night as the Lewis & Clark men's basketball team put up 100 points in their 100-89 win over Warner Pacific.

The Pioneers move to 3-0 on the season, while the Knights fall to 3-6.

Sims erupted for 31 points to lead all scorers on the night. He finished 10-12 shooting from the field, including an astounding 9-11 from three-point range. The Pioneers shot 56.7 percent from three-point range, making 17 of 30 in the victory.

Despite the Pioneers' long-range clinic, it was Warner Pacific that jumped out to the early lead. The Knights kept the lead for the first three minutes of the game, attacking the basket for easy layups. After Sims' first three-pointer put Lewis & Clark up 8-7, Warner Pacific came right back down the court for another layup to take a 9-8 lead with 17:05 remaining in the first half.

That was the last lead the Knights would hold for the rest of the first half.

The Pioneers went on an 18-4 run, fueled by three-pointers from Kurt Parker and Serg Ovchinnikov and capped by a shot from downtown by Sims to take a 26-13 lead. The lead fluctuated between five and 16 points for the rest of the first half, but Lewis & Clark retained control of the tempo.

Toward the end of the first half, the Knights applied a full-court press defense and slowly worked the Pioneer lead down to three, heading to the locker room down only 45-42. Warner Pacific capitalized on five Lewis & Clark turnovers in the last four minutes.

Just seven seconds into the second period, the Knights knotted the game at 45 and took a 48-47 lead on consecutive three pointers. The two teams fought back and forth until the 16:00 mark, when the Pioneers held a slim 56-53 lead over Warner Pacific.

That's when Sims took over.

In a span of just 45 seconds, Sims drained three consecutive three pointers that elicited roars from the crowd and extended the Lewis & Clark lead to 12. The Pioneers would carry that double-digit lead throughout the second half until the waning seconds of the game.

With the Pioneers leading 70-57, Sims added insult to injury when he lofted a pass towards the basket. Justin Leathers caught it on the other end, throwing it down for an alley-oop that further energized the crowd. [Watch the dunk!]

Down the stretch, the Lewis & Clark took advantage of solid free throw shooting from Randall Jackson, Parker, and Leathers to hold onto their lead and seal the victory. Jackson ended his nigh 6-6 from the stripe.

Sims led all scorers and also pulled down eight rebounds and recorded three steals to lead Lewis & Clark in both categories. Parker added 19 points, six rebounds, and three assists coming off the bench.

Leathers contributed an efficient ten points, including 6-8 from the free throw line. Jason Luhnow led the team with eight assist, many of them swing passes to find an open Sims.
