PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team battled strong against the George Fox Bruins on Saturday night in Northwest Conference action, however the Pioneers were unable to pull out a win falling 3-1. The Bruins won the opening two sets 25-21, 25-22, before the Pioneers earned an exciting 27-25 win in the third set. George Fox buckled down to win the fourth set 25-19.
The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-8 on the season and 3-3 in conference play. The Bruins improve to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in the NWC.
Juniors Kataleya Milan and Brigitte Russo once again led the way for the Pioneers offensively, with Milan collecting a match-high 20 kills, while Russo finished one behind her with 19. Freshman Alexe Navarro collected a match-high 30 digs, while Milan came up with 20. Freshman Tessa Belanger was the Pioneers leader at the net, earning a team-high five blocks (one solo / four assisted). Alicia Callejo-Black was also solid from the net, knocking down three blocks.
Erin Sprowls and Tiffany Burk each finished with 12 kills for the Bruins. Erin Campbell earned a match-high six service aces for GFU, while earning six kills and two blocks.
The Pioneers return to the court on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at Pacific.
