PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team opened the second half of Northwest Conference action on Friday night with a 3-0 loss to the Whitman Missionaries. The Missionaries, who defeated the Pioneers earlier in the season, earned a 25-23, 25-15, 25-11 victory.
The loss drops the Pioneers to 4-11 overall and 3-6 in NWC action. The win allows the Missionaries to move one spot ahead of the Pios in the conference rankings, improving them to 6-16 overall and 4-5 in NWC play.
Senior Kelsie Dorpat had a good game for the Pioneers, picking up three kills and 20 assists on the offensive side of the ball. Defensively, Dorpat earned a block and seven digs. Junior Kataleya Milan led the Pioneers with eight kills, while Brigitte Russo finished one kill behind with seven. Senior Kayla Ernewein ended with a match-high four blocks, while Alexe Navarro had a match-high 21 digs.
Franny Gardner led all players iwth nine kills, while teammates Jillian Davs and Natalia Zea each finished with eight.
The Pioneers return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m. for a Northwest Conference dual with Whitworth.
