PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior James Hollins scored a season-high 36 points to lead the Lewis & Clark men's basketball team past the visiting Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday night in Northwest Conference action. The Pioneers defeated the Loggers 94-83.

The Pioneers improve to 9-6 overall and fall to 3-3 in conference play. The Loggers slip to 6-9 on the season and 1-5 in the NWC. 

Hollins drained 14 of his 17 free-throws, while nailing 50% of his three point shots. Senior Ross Erickson chipped in 20 points in the victory. Connor Freeberg also finished in double-digits, scoring 12 points in the win.

Rex Holmes finished with a team-high 24 points for the Loggers, while Riggs Yarbro concluded the evening with 16. 

Things got off to a slow start for the Pioneers in the first half, with the Loggers jumping out to an 11-2 advantage five minutes into the game.  It took the Pioneers just five minutes to pull things together, tying the contest at 15 all with 9:59 remaining. Erickson capped off the comeback with a three pointer assisted by Scott Pisapia. 

A three pointer from Freeberg with 2:18 remaining until half earned the Pioneers a nine point, 38-29, advantage. Hollins knocked down a jumper with 10 seconds remaining to give the Pioneers their first double-digit lead of the game.

The second half belonged entirely to the Pioneers with the Loggers never finding a way to recapture the lead. Freshman Jason Luhnow gave Lewis & Clark its largest lead of the game with a three pointer at the 6:28 marker, putting the Pios ahead 75-57.

The Pioneers remained composed down the stretch, pulling out the 94-83 victory.  

Lewis & Clark returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. against Pacific in the Pamplin Sports Center.
