Game One
Game Two
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball team could not overcome Willamette on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Bearcats in a Northwest Conference double-header. The Bearcats earned a 10-0 win after five innings in game one, before picking up a 7-1 victory in the second game.
Senior Caroline DeVincenzi earned the Pioneers only hit in the first game, reaching base in the bottom of the fourth with a double down the left field line. The hit was a little too late as the Bearcats already had a 10 run lead.
In game two, Willamette captured a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning with a homerun from Heather Winslow. The homerun was the first of three for Winslow in the game. A walk-off homerun in the second inning immediately put the Bearcats ahead 3-0.
Lewis & Clark would plate its first run of the day in the fourth inning with pinch runner Sarah Breninger coming in to score on an RBI groundout by Amanda Rabith. Breninger came into run for freshman Moriah Lane, who led off the inning with a single up the middle, before advancing to second on a wild pitch.
Willamette earned the run, plus one, back in the top of the fifth with another Winslow homerun and an RBI double from Hope Kloczko. Ahead 5-1, Willamette ended the scoring in the sixth inning with another two run homerun from Winslow.
Lane and Caitlin McCormick both finished the second game 2-for-3 from the plate.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, March 18 at noon when they travel to take on the Linfield Wildcats in NWC action.
