PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team ended the 2012 season on Saturday night at home against the Puget Sound Loggers. The two sides faced off in a Northwest Conference battle with the #14 Loggers earned a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-20) win.
The Pioneers end the season with a 6-19 overall record and 2-14 conference record. The Loggers finish the regular season 19-5 overall and 13-3 in NWC play.
Prior to the start of the contest the Pioneers honored the families of the players for their dedication to the program. The seniors were then recognized for the hard work they've put in both on the court and in the classroom. A special shout out was given to senior Josh Spegman who has been the team manager for several seasons.
Senior Jennifer Dowdy ended her career with a match-high nine kills, while also digging up nine balls for the Pios. Brigitte Russo finished the night with eight kills, while Kataleya Milan had six. Senior Leia Matsunaga added to her assists total with 23 against the Loggers, taking her school record total to 2,632. Matsunaga and Alicia Callejo-Black each led the Pioneers with two blocks.
Jackie Harvey, Marissa Florant and Nicolette Reynaud each finished with nine kills for the Loggers. Reynaud also led all players in blocks with five.
