PORTLAND, Ore. - Junior Kristina Williams scored in double figures for the 11th time this season to help guide the #10 ranked Lewis & Clark women's basketball team past the Linfield Wildcats 57-46 on Friday night in Northwest Conference action.

The Pioneers improve to 12-1 on the season and 3-1 in conference play. The Wildcats slip to 7-5 overall and 1-2 in league action.

Williams ended the night with a team-high 14 points, finishing a perfect 6-6 from the free-throw line, while also collecting five rebounds. During the course of the game, Williams scored her 1000th career point becoming the ninth player in program history to score 1000+ points. The El Dorado Hills, Calif. native becomes the fastest player to reach the milestone, scoring her 1,007 points in 67 games.

Senior Megan Spence also ended the night in double figures scoring 12 points for the Pios. Margaret Dowling knocked down 10 points for the Pioneers, while grabbing a game-high seven boards.

Gretchen Owens led all players with 23 points for the Wildcats. Katelyn Hanson chipped in 12 points and a team-high five rebounds.

The Wildcats caught the Pioneers off guard in the beginning of the contest, going on an 8-2 run in the first five minutes of play led by two Owens jumpers. Lewis & Clark got its offense going over the following five minutes putting together a 10-0 run to capture a 12-8 lead with 9:05 remaining.

Owens and Hanson teamed up to earn the lead back for Linfield with 2:59 to play in the first half, before a Kathlene Howe layup tied the score at 16-16. Daron Dean put Lewis & Clark ahead 20-16 after the Howe layup with one of her own as well as two successful free-throws. Williams capped off the first half scoring with a layup with eight seconds remaining to send the Pios into the locker room ahead 22-16.

Lewis & Clark was all business to start the second half earning a 12-point, 31-19, lead on a Villanueva jumper with 16:47 remaining in the game. Linfield was not out of the game yet, fighting back with a strong 18-6 run to tie things up at 37-37. Owens contributed 10 of the Wildcats 18 points during the run.

Two Williams free-throws handed the lead back to Lewis & Clark with 10:33 to go. It would be four minutes before either side put the ball in the basket, with Owens ending the scoring drought with a jumper to tie the game for the sixth time.

Dowling would earn the lead back for good for the Pioneers with a jumper in the paint with 3:41 to go. From that point on the Pioneers would put together an overwhelming offensive run to recapture a double-digit lead. With 1:09 remaining Dowling knocked down a three from the corner to give the Pios their largest lead of the game at 13 points.

The scoring ended with two Owens free-throws with 30 seconds on the clock before the Pioneers held the ball, running down the clock for the victory.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m. when they travel to Pacific Lutheran.
