PARKLAND, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team wrapped up its Northwest Conference weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Saturday evening in Parkland.
The Pioneers fall to 4-8 on the season and 0-2 in NWC play. The Lutes, who are ranked 20th in the nation, improve to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action.
Lewis & Clark managed to keep things close in the first two sets, falling by a slim 25-22 margin, before the Lutes hit the gas in the third set winning 25-10.
Freshman Kataleya Milan and junior Jennifer Dowdy led the Pioneer offense with eight kills, while sophomore Alicia Callejo-Black chipped in seven. Junior Leia Matsunaga had a strong night for the Pioneers, dishing out a team-high 29 assists and coming up with 12 digs. Milan led the Pioneers in digs with 15. Junior Elena Hoff came up with 12 digs.
Kelsie Moore of PLU led all players in kills with 12, while Blair Bjorkman finished with a match-high 18 digs.
Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 7 p.m. when they host the George Fox Bruins.
