Game One
Game Two
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball team could not hold off the Puget Sound Loggers on Saturday afternoon in Northwest Conference action. The Loggers picked up a 9-0 win after six innings in the first game, before taking the second game 11-2 after five innings of play.
With the win, the Loggers complete the four game sweep of the Pioneers this season, improving to 9-21 overall and 7-13 in conference action. The Pioneers are now 7-24 on the season and 1-19 in the NWC.
The two sides were scoreless through the first four innings of action in game one, but the Loggers managed to finally get something going in the top of the fifth.
Puget Sound plated five runs on four hits and a Pioneer error in the inning, including a three-run homerun from Anthea Aasen. Prior to the Aasen homerun, the Loggers plated a run on a double from Chrissy Demuelenaere that scored Megan Janes. The final Logger run came on a single up the middle that sent another runner across the plate.
The Loggers capped things off in the sixth inning with their final four runs. Jenica Holt, Demuelenaere, Aasen, and Alex Usher all came around to score for Puget Sound.
Game two was all Loggers with Puget Sound scoring in four of the five innings played. Puget Sound took a 2-0 lead in the first game, before platting three more in the second inning on a three-run homerun Brianna Huber.
The Pioneers earned two runs back in the bottom of the second with Molly Donahue and Sarah Breninger each picking up RBI singles.
That would be all the offense that the Pioneers would manage the rest of the game, as their competitors went on to score six more runs to earn the victory.
A double to center by Aasen plated two of the Loggers three runs in the third inning, before she came around to score on an RBI single from Joleen Monfiletto. A Logger homerun from Chrissy Atterson in the fifth inning score two more runs, followed by ground out that allowed Monfiletto to score.
Lewis & Clark returns to action on Sunday afternoon, taking on the Pacific Lutheran Lutes at 12 p.m. at the Huston Sports Complex.
