PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball team dropped two games to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes on Sunday afternoon at the Huston Sports Complex. The wins give the Lutes a four game sweep of the Pioneers after playing earlier in the season. On Sunday, the Lutes earned a 9-0 win in the first game, before winning 13-2 in the night cap.

The losses drop the Pioneers to 7-26 on the season and 1-20 in conference play. The Lutes improve to 24-10 overall and 18-4 in the NWC.

Game one began with the Lutes scoring a run in the first inning, before tacking on three more in the top of the second. Lewis & Clark pitcher Paige McFeeley managed to sit the Lutes down in the third inning without suffering a run, but the scoreless streak was short lived.

Pacific Lutheran picked up a single run in the top of the fourth before ending things with a four run fifth inning. The Lutes picked up two homeruns in the first game, one from both Katie Lowery and Ami Gran.

Much like the first game, Pacific Lutheran jumped ahead early and never looked back. Down 7-0 heading into the bottom half of the third inning, the Pioneers managed to plate a run on an RBI single from Mariel McClenahan.

The Lutes responded in the top of the next inning with an RBI double to left field from LindseyMatsunaga. Lewis & Clark earned the run back in the home half of the inning with Michaela Satter coming around to score on a Sarah Breninger ground out.

With a comfortable 10-2 lead, the Lutes added three more runs to the scoreboard in the top of the fifth. The Pioneers would not respond in their half of the inning, ending the contest.

Lewis & Clark returns to action on Monday, April 11 at 12 p.m. when they host the Whitworth Pirates in a conference double-header.
