THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark
volleyball team opened play in the Cal Lutheran Cal-Lu-Fornia
Invitational on Friday afternoon in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
The Pioneers first contest featured a face-off between L&C
and Pomona-Pitzer. The Pioneers were all business in the match,
taking down the Sagehens in three straight sets. Pomona put up a
little fight in the first set, but the Pios collected the 25-23
victory, before cruising to a 25-20 and 25-21 win in the following
two sets.
In the teams final game of the day, the University of Redlands
picked up a 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-21). Despite the loss the young
Pioneer side played pretty well.
The Pios return to action on Saturday with two more games in the
tournament. They will face UC Santa Cruz at 3 p.m. before taking on
the Whittier Poets at 5 p.m. The Pioneers will look to avenge their
loss to Whittier last weekend at the NWC Invitational hosted by
