BOX SCORE
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball
team dropped its make-up game with the Willamette Bearcats 13-4 on
Thursday afternoon. The game was originally started on March 28
with the Bearcats holding a 3-1 advantage, before rain forced the
game to be called in the top of the second inning.
The Bearcats got the game re-started with a five-run second
inning, which included two home runs. The Pioneers responded
with two runs in the bottom half of the inning, with Sara
Standish and Jet'aimie Mullins coming in to score. Standish was
knocked in when Jet'aimie Mullins found a huge gap in
right center that allowed her to post her first triple
of the season. She would later come around to score on a
Michaela Satter single.
Willamette scored their final five runs of the contest in the
fourth inning on three hits and one Pioneer error. Jaimie Moon
scored the Pioneers fourth run of the game in the bottom of the
fourth inning, after reaching base on a single to shallow right.
Moon then moved to second on a ground out by Satter, before coming
home on a wild pitch that then resulted in a throwing error by the
Bearcat cathcer.
The Pioneers return to the field on Saturday, April 10 when they
head to Spokane, Wash. for a double-header against Whitworth.
