GAME ONE

GAME TWO

PARKLAND, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark softball team fell to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes in a Northwest Conference double-header on Sunday afternoon in Parkland, Wash. The Lutes earned a 8-1 victory in the first game, before rallying late in game two to win 9-6.

The Pioneers slip to 3-30 on the season and 0-24 in conference. The Lutes improve to 19-11 overall and 13-7 in the NWC.

In game one, the Lutes left little doubt that they were going to earn the victory, scoring six of their eight runs in the first two innings of action. PLU took a 7-0 advantage in the bottom of the fourth inning on a Dena Harkovitch RBI single.

The Pioneers scored their lone run of the game in the top of the sixth inning on a Danielle Bletchert single to left field. Jamie Moon came around to score on the play after reaching base on a double to left.

The Lutes tacked on their eighth and final run in the bottom the sixth for the 8-1 win.

The second game began with the Lutes once again taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning on three hits.  The Pioneers slowly began chipping away at the Lute lead, beginning in the third inning with a run scoring double by Moon. Freshman Megan Andre pulled the Pioneers within one run in the top of the fourth inning with a ground out to the pitcher that brought Jessica Mullins across the plate.

The Pioneers took a 4-3 lead in the fifth inning when Jet'aime Mullins came in to score on a PLU error, before Blechert scored Caroline DeVincenzi on a RBI single.

Moon and DeVincenzi added to more runs to the Pio lead in the sixth inning with a pair of RBI singles.

Pacific Lutheran put together a six-run rally in the bottom half of the inning on six hits and a pair of walks. The six runs handed the lead back to the Lutes, putting the Pioneers down 9-6 heading into the final inning of the game.

The Pioneer bats were unable to overcome the Lute pitching in the seventh inning, being retired in order.

The Pioneers return to the field on Saturday, April 24 at noon when they host George Fox in their final home series of the season.
