GAME ONE

GAME TWO

TACOMA, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark softball team kept the Puget Sound Loggers close in the first game of its Northwest Conference double-header, falling 2-0, on Saturday afternoon in Tacoma. The Loggers buckled down to take a 9-1 win in the second game after just five innings of action.

Game one turned out to be a defensive battle, with the Pioneers holding the Loggers to nine hits on the day and forcing them to work to earn both of their runs. The Loggers scored their first run in the first inning, with Megan Janes scoring on an Anthea Aasen single. Janes reached base on a triple.

The Loggers did not score again until the bottom of the fourth inning with Katy Appleby picking up the RBI. The Pioneers only managed two hits, with Jessica and Jet'aimie Mullins each earning one.

Game two was all Puget Sound, with the Loggers scoring nine runs on 10 hits, while the Pioneers collected just two hits. The Pioneers scored their lone run of the game in the top of the first inning on a single up the middle by Caroline DeVincezi. JT Mullins came around to score the run leading off the game with a free pass after the Logger pitcher hit her with the ball. Mullins then stole second base before being moved to third on a ground out by Jaimie Moon.

The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, April 18 when they head to Pacific Lutheran for another Northwest Conference double-header.
