GAME ONE
GAME TWO
MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Going up against the No.
16 ranked team in the nation, the Lewis & Clark softball team
dropped two more Northwest Conference games, this time falling 17-2
and 5-2 to the Linfield Wildcats on Sunday afternoon.
The Pioneers are now 0-11 on the season and 0-4 in conference
action. The Wildcats are 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the NWC.
The Wildcat offense jumped all over the Pioneers in the first game,
scoring all 17 of their runs in the first four innings of action.
The Pioneers tried to start a hefty comeback in the fifth inning,
scoring two runs, while taking advantage of some Wildcat miscues.
Sophomore Caroline DeVincenzi knocked in both Pioneer runs, hitting
a single that allowed Megan Andre and Jaimie Moon to come around
and score.
In game two, the Pioneer defense seemed to settle down, holding the
Wildcats to just six hits. The Wildcats jumped ahead 1-0 in the
second inning, but the Pios evened things up in the fourth inning.
An error by the Wildcat defense allowed Jessica Mullins to score
the tying run, matching the score 1-1. The Wildcats answered
back in their half of the inning, on an RBI double by the
designated hitter.
Another Wildcat error in the sixth inning, allowed the Pioneers to
plate their second run of the game, but it would not be enough to
earn them the win.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, March 13 at 12 p.m. when
they host the Puget Sound Loggers.
