PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark softball
team dropped two Northwest Conference games to the Willamette
Bearcats on Saturday afternoon at the Huston Sports Complex. The
Bearcats took game one 13-5, before winning game two 12-5.
The loss drops to the Pioneers to 3-18 on the season and 0-10 in
the NWC. The Bearcats, who are ranked 18th in the country, are now

Willamette posted a strong first inning of play, scoring five
runs on just four hits. The Pioneers earned one run back in the
bottom half of the inning on a solo home run to left field by
sophomore Caroline DeVincenzi.
The Bearcats earned two more runs to take a 7-1 lead, before the
Pioneers scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a
chunck out of the Willamette lead. Jaimie Moon knocked in the first
Pio run of the inning with an RBI single to right center, scoring
sophomore Gabby Castro. A single by DeVincenzi later in the inning
brought Moon and junior Sara Standish in to complete the scoring.
In the top of the fifth inning, Willamette managed to earn the
three runs back, plus one, that the Pioneers had just scored in the
last half inning. Danielle Blechert knocked in the Pioneers lone
run in the sixth inning, driving home Michaela Satter with a single
down the right line.
Two more Bearcat runs in the top of the seventh inning ended the
scoring in game one, handing Willamette the 13-5 victory.

first three innings in play. The Pioneers finally got things going
in the bottom of the third inning, posting five runs to pull within
one run of the Bearcats.
