SEATTLE, Wash. - Junior guard Christina Herring
was named to the Northwest Conference All-Conference First-Team as
announced by the league office on Thursday. Herring is not the only
Pioneer to earn a spot on the All-Conference list, as freshman
Kristina Williams was named to the All-Conference Second-Team,
while sophomore Margaret Dowling earned an Honorable Mention
nod.
Herring has played in and started all 25 of the Pioneers games
this season, averaging 33.1 minutes a game. Herring is currently
third on the team in scoring, averaging 9.5 points a game, while
dishing out a team-leading (2nd NWC) 4.48 assists a game.
Williams, a 5-9 guard from El Dorado Hills, Calif., has been the
Pios go-to scorer this season, averaging 13.8 points a game.
Williams scoring average currently ranks her seventh in the NWC and
first amongst the Pios. She currently ranks third in the NWC in
free-throw percentage, shooting .830 (112-135) from the charity
stripe this season.
Dowling, a 5-11 forward, earns Honorable Mention honors after
playing 18 games for the Pioneers before going down with a season
ending knee injury. At the time of her injury, Dowling was leading
the conference in defensive boards, averaging 8.8 rebounds a
game.
The Pioneers hit the court on Thursday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. as they
travel to Newberg, Ore. to take on the George Fox Bruins in the
first round of the NWC Playoffs.
