PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team recognized departing seniors Molly Donahue, Lou Ohki and Katherine Fiedler on Saturday night prior to the start of the teams Northwest Conference match against the Whitworth Pirates. The Pioneers were unable to hold off the Pirates, who cruised to a 25-13, 25-15, and 2515 victory.
The loss ends the Pioneers season with a 10-16 overall record and 6-10 NWC record. The Pirates, who finished the NWC regular season champions, improved to 17-6 on the year and 14-2 in conference action.
Fiedler ended her career with five kills, while also coming up with two blocks. Donahue finished the match with a dig and Ohki finished out with four digs. Junior Margaret Dowling led the Pioneers with seven kills on the night, while Alicia Callejo-Black ended with three. Sophomore Leia Matsunaga had a team-high 15 assists and freshman Kelsie Dorpat had two.
Defensively for the Pios, Dowling had a match-high 14 digs, while Matsunaga had seven. Callejo-Black had two blocks. Gabby Hands and Erika James each came up with a block.
Kaimi Rocha had a match-high 16 kills for the Pirates. Ka'ipo Rocha finished with seven kills for Whitworth, while Amanda Grumbach and Bree Riddle each had four. Riddle finished with a match-high 33 assists.
Grumbach came up with 13 digs for the Pirates and Kaimi Rocha ended with 10.
