PORTLAND, Ore. - It was a joyous return home
for the Lewis & Clark volleyball team, who has played its last
five games on the road, as the Pioneers sweep the Linfield Wildcats
in a Northwest Conference match-up inside the Pamplin Sports
Complex. The Pioneers took down the Wildcats 25-20, 25-12, and
25-20 to earn their first conference sweep at home this season.
The Pioneers (9-13, 5-7 NWC) were led offensively by 11 kills
from junior Margaret Dowling and seven from freshman Alicia
Callejo-Black. Sophomore setter Leia Matsunaga had a solid night
with 25 assists, while libero Lou Ohki and Dowling each came up
with 13 digs on the defensive end. Callejo-Black was a beast at the
net, picking up three block solos and a block assist.
The Wildcats (8-12, 6-6 NWC) had a balanced offensive attack
with Tara Hill coming up with eight kills, while Rosa Gimson
finished with seven. Cora Hall finished the night with 14 assists
for Linfield. Samantha Lau had 17 digs for the Wildcats and Shayli
Coppock finished with the only two blocks for the Wildcats.
Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Wednesday, Oct. 27
when they host Willamette at 7 p.m.
