LOS ANGELES, Calif. – With very little time
to regroup from its doubleheader the day before, the Lewis &
Clark softball team went straight to work on Wednesday, March 25,
taking on Occidental College at Bell Field in California. The
Pioneers nearly pulled out a come from behind victory over the
Tigers, scoring two inning runs to tie the game 2-2 in the fifth.
Despite the late game surge, the Tigers managed to plate one more
run than the Pios, grabbing a 3-2 victory.
Michaela Satter led the Pios from the plate, hitting 2-3 on the
day, helping her team outhit Occidental 8-3. Jamie Moon and Laura
Parker scored the Pioneers two runs, with Moon picking up a RBI for
hitting Parker in.
The Tigers posted the first run of the game in the bottom of the
first inning, before notching another one in the third for a 2-0
advantage. The Pioneers battled their way back into the game in the
top of the fifth, when Moon nailed a double to the outfield,
allowing Parker to cross home plate. Moon would come around to
score moments later courtesy of Danielle Blechert.
Occidental regained control of the lead in the bottom of the
inning, platting one more run. The Tigers run in the bottom of the
fifth would eventually stand to be the game-winning run, handing
the Pios a 3-2 loss.
L&C returns to action on Thursday, March 26 taking on Whittier
in doubleheader action, with the first game beginning at 2 p.m.
