GAME ONE
GAME TWO
THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Strong pitching sank
the Lewis & Clark softball team's hopes of victory, as
the Pioneers slipped to California Lutheran 9-1 and 6-0 on Tuesday,
March 24 on the road. The Regals were led by Talia Ferrari in game
one, who threw a one-hitter, while Lizzy Chacon completed her
fourth shutout of the year in game two.
The Regals posted seven runs throughout the first four innings of
action, before the Pios managed to squeeze one across the plate in
the top of the fifth. Ferrari's perfect game came to an end
after she hit the first two Pioneer batters, before walking
another. With the bases loaded, Caitlin Relyea collected the lone
hit of the game, ending the no-hitter and shutout. The Regals would
earn the run back in the bottom of the inning, scoring two more
runs to seal a 9-1 victory.
The Pios best chance of scoring in game two came in the top of the
first, with a runner on second and third, with just one out.
Despite the great scoring opportunity, the Regals ace would buckle
down and strike out the next batter before forcing a lineout to end
the inning.
CLU would mange two runs in the first inning, before plating two
more in the bottom of the fourth. The Regals would squeeze in their
final two runs in the fifth and sixth inning to complete their 6-0
win.
The Pioneers return to the diamond on Wednesday, March 25 at 3 p.m.
taking on Occidental College on the road.
