Both the LC men's and women's swim teams captured
victories, each taking first place in 8 of their 11 events in their
dual against Willamette on Friday evening (results).
For the women, two upcoming freshmen--Susie Trexler (Reno, NV)
and Claire Jordan (Edmonds, WA)--had a very strong showing, each
winning two events. Trexler placed first in the 100 breaststroke
and the 100 free while Jordan placed first in the 100 and 200 free.
Lindsay Nixon (Junior, Chino Hills, CA) also posted two wins in the
100 backstroke and the 400IM. The eight wins were enough to score
133 points over Willamette's 68.
Owen Kenton (Senior, La Grande, OR) and Justin Lawton (Senior,
Tokyo, Japan) both won two events each for the Pioneer men. Kenton
placed first in the 100 fly and 50 free, Lawton placed first in the
100 and 200 free. Lee Taylor (Freshman, Santa Fe, NM) added an
event win in the 100 breaststroke to add to their 100 points over
Willamette's 58.
This is the first meet that the Bearcats have hosted since
the 2005-06 season. With the win both Pioneers' teams improve to
2-0 and the Bearcats' teams fall to 0-1.
The Pioneers next swim a dual meet versus Linfield at home
in the Zehntbauer Swim Pavillion at 6:00pm on Friday November 9th.
