MCMINNVILE, Ore.—Juniors
Madeleine Boyle and
Nia Pile each posted top-two finishes and top-10 marks in program history to lead Lewis & Clark College women's track & field on Saturday at the Jenn Boyman Memorial Invite.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Pioneers recorded six top-50 marks in program history and six top-10 showings on Saturday at Linfield.
Boyle won the 1,500M with a PR time of 4:44.76. She finished first out of 26 runners in the event and crossed the finish line 11.03 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Her time moved her into 66
th in NCAA DIII this Spring. First year
Talia Tomhave added a PR of her own to place 14th with a time of 5:22.77.
Pile nearly added a win of her own in the shot put. The junior placed second out of 34 throwers, despite not being a chance to get her three throws during the finals. Her second throw carried a career-best 12.00M (39-04.50 Feet). With her big PR, she moved in to 73
rd in DIII this year. Sophomore
Divinity Singleton finished ninth overall with a season-best heave of 11.16M (36-07.50 Feet). Junior
Piper McCoy Harmon took 23
rd place with a throw that carried 9.27M (30-05.00 Feet). Junior
Michèe Brika posted a throw of 8.52M (27-11.50 Feet) to finish in 29
th place.
Sophomore
Lillian Besa notched a top-15 throw in program history in the discus. Besa led five Pioneers in the event by finishing 12
th out of 39. Besa delivered a mark of 35.08M (115-01 Feet) to move into 15
th place in program history. McCoy Harmon came in second on the team and 13
th overall with a throw of 34.45M (113-00 Feet). Junior
Reilyn Sabado notched a mark of 31.06M (101-11 Feet) to finish in 20
thplace. Singleton recorded a toss of 30.47M (99-11 Feet) to place 24
th. Brika posted a throw of 18.67M (61-03 Feet) to finish 39
th.
Singleton led four Pioneers in the hammer. The sophomore heaved the hammer 36.40M (119-05 Feet) to finish 11
th out of 35 throwers. Besa finished in 19
th place with a toss of 34.69M (113-09 Feet). McCoy Harmon closed out their day with a throw of 33.09M (108-06 Feet). Brika launched the hammer 22.81M (74-10 Feet) to finish 34
th.
Sabado was the lone Pioneers thrower in the javelin. She placed 14
th out of 30 throwers with a mark of 31.79M (104-03 Feet).
Sophomore
Rose Dinh led a trio of Pioneers in the long jump. She leaped 5.10M (16-08.75 Feet) to finish 12
thout of 37 jumpers. Pile posted a mark of 4.85M (15-11.00 Feet) to place 18
th. Junior
Anli Davis leapt 4.34M (14-03.00 Feet) to come in 34
th.
Junior
Miriam Reside recorded a top-20 time in program history in the 800M to lead five Pioneers in the event. Reside crossed the line in 2:22.14 to finish sixth out of 38 runners. Sophomore
Nadia Cota placed 11
th in the event with a PR time of 2:28.14. Sophomore
Mackenzie Olver added a PR mark of 2:31.76 to finish 14
th. First year
Maeva Conroy and sophomore
Melissa Zurla finished back-to-back in 18
th and 19
th. Conroy (2:35.76) and Zurla (2:36.64 – season-best) were separated by less than a second.
Sophomore
Callow Soto posted a top-25 time in the 200M. She ran the 24
th-fastest time in program history with a mark of 27.19. She placed 18
th out of 40 runners in the event. Sophomore
Faith Kyser finished in 29.57 to place 37
th.
Soto also led Lewis & Clark in the 400M. She ended the race ninth out of 25 runners with a time of 1:01.99.
Senior
Tessa Robinson led Lewis & Clark in the 100M. Robinson posted a time of 13.87 to finish 25
th out of 37 runners. Kyser came in 27
th with a time of 13.94.
Junior
Ali Kerschner finished in sixth place in the 10,000M with a PR time of 44:30.33.
Dinh led a pair of Lewis & Clark runners in the 100M Hurdles. Dinh finished in 19
th place with a time of 18.64. Sophomore
Carolyn Mayberry crossed the line in 19.14 to place 20
th.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Pile's mark in the shot put moved her up from sixth to fifth all-time. She is the first Pioneer women's thrower to reach 12.00M since 2014.
- Boyle's winning time in the 1,500M helped her crack the top-10 all-time in the event. She sits in ninth place after Saturday.
- Reside moved into 20th place in program history in the 800M. Cota cracked the top-50 in the event with her PR time. She is now sitting 47th all-time.
- During her junior season, Boyle has set the program record in the 3K Steeplechase (11:16.43), ran the sixth-fastest time in program history in the 5K (17:49.54), the ninth-fastest time in the 1,500M (4:44.77) and the 25th-fastest mark in the 800M (2:23.11).
- Pile (fifth), Singleton (15th), Sabado (37th) and Besa (50th) have all posted top-50 marks in program history in the shot put this Spring.
- Pile (sixth shot put) and Dinh (seventh long jump) each posted top-10 marks in the Northwest Conference this season.
