Buese finished in first place in the first final of the day and junior
Madeleine Boyle earned her first collegiate All-Conference honors in the final race of the day, to bookend a strong Saturday for Lewis & Clark.Ā

Buese dominated the 10K from start-to-finish. Pacific University's Megan Feitz stayed with Buese for the first 3,600M, before Buese began to pull away. The Pioneers senior stretched her 0.5 second lead to four seconds over the next lap and pushed her lead to 10+ seconds by the 4,800M mark. Buese cruised the rest of the way and eventually stretched her lead to 29.562 seconds. She crossed the finish line in 37:24.16.Ā

Boyle earned her first collegiate All-Conference honors in the 3K Steeplechase. The junior, who is graduating a year early, came into the event seeded second overall. She traded leads with Pacific University's Morgan Boddy (three seed) and George Fox University's Breanna Schmitt (top seed). After sitting third through the opening two laps, Boyle moved into second on lap three and took the lead after four laps. She would lead for two laps, before Boddy took the lead after six laps. Boyle would close in third place overall with a final time of 11:32.156.Ā

The Pioneers had a number of student-athletes qualify for Finals on Saturday.Ā

In the 400M Prelims, junior
Elsie Chin and sophomore
Callow Soto each posted PRs to earn spots in Sunday's Final. Chin finished sixth overall with a PR time of 58.93. She moved into sixth place in program history in the event. Soto earned the eighth and final qualifying spot with a PR time of 1:00.14. Her time moved her into ninth in program history.Ā

Juniors
Malia Heien and
Miriam Reside each qualified for the Finals in the 800M. Heien notched the fifth-fastest time in prelims after slowing down over the final 10M. The junior earned the second and final automatic qualifying spot in her heat with a time of 2:18.51. Reside posted a PR time of 2:20.17 to earn the eighth and final spot in the Finals. She moved up to 12
thĀ in program history with her new PR mark.Ā

Chin also punched her ticket to the Final in the 400M Hurdles. Chin finished sixth in qualifying with a time of 1:06.25. Sophomore
Carolyn Mayberry took 19
thĀ in the event with a time of 1:13.27.Ā

Tessa Robinson competed in the 100M. She notched a mark of 13.51 in the event to finish 12
th.Ā

Rose Dinh and Mayberry raced in the 100M Hurdles Prelims. Dinh (17.71) and Mayberry (17.80) placed 21
stĀ and 22
ndĀ overall.Ā

In the Pioneers lone field event of the afternoon, Dihn finished in 29
thĀ in the long jump. She registered a mark of 4.14M (13-07.00 Feet).Ā

The Pioneers had several athletes compete in the throwing events at Pacific University on Saturday night. The results from those events will be posted later on Saturday night or early Sunday morning.Ā

BY THE NUMBERS
- Buese earned her eighth career Northwest Conference Title with her victory in the 10K. She has now won three 5Ks, three 10Ks and a pair of Cross Country Titles.Ā
- Three of the four members of Lewis & Clark's 4x400M Relay Team have now run a top-10 mark in program history. Heien ranks eighth all-time in the event.Ā
- Buese joins Whitworth University's Leslie Nelson (2002-04) as the only runners in conference history to win three NWC Women's 10Ks.Ā
- Buese can become the first student-athlete in NWC history to win three 10K-5K doubles on Sunday. She is currently tied with L&C Hall of Famer Emily Thomas after completing the double in 2022 and 2024.Ā
